The Art and Science of Nondual Meditation: Ancient Wisdom Teachings for Enlightened Living
August 13—18, 2023
Stockbridge, MA
Description
The essential teachings of meditation reveal our fundamental Essence as nondual Pure Essence, whose essential expressions are unchanging peace, equanimity, and compassionate loving presence. While our Essence can never be objectified, it can be realized as our moment-to-moment lived experience.
Welcoming is the first step on the path of meditation where we learn how to meet, greet, and respond to each moment, while recognizing how everything—body, mind, sensations, emotions, and the world around us—is unfolding in our ground of nondual Essence. Welcoming sets us free from self-judgment, shame, blame, guilt, and comparison, and opens us to being loving compassion in action.
Next, we investigate the nature of our self as an unchanging witnessing presence in which body, mind, and world are ever-changing. Here, ourselves as a separate perceiver dissolves into pure perceiving, and we recognize how everything—self and world—is of one underlying mysterious substance—Essence—where conceptual understanding gives way to heart-felt knowing.
Embodying our nondual Essence in everyday life changes everything. Now we live from a responsive non-reactive heart, empowered to meet each moment responsively, free of stress, anxiety, and fear. We live as the embodiment of love that feels no sense of separation, even as world, others and life events appear before us as unique expressions.
Retreat is your invitation to call off the search and awaken to your heart’s deepest Essence. During retreat you’ll experience daily periods of meditation, BodySensing hatha yoga, BreathSensing prāṇāyāma, and iRest Yoga Nidra. There will also be periods of community gathering with like-minded people, self-inquiry, and silent contemplation. Only when we are willing to live from Essence will we, and the world, be at peace.
