Self-Rescue and Workplace Well-Being
iRest Meditation for Medical and Mental Health Professionals
We often hail healthcare workers as “superheroes”—a fitting compliment in light of their daily feats on the job. Wonder powers aside, doctors, nurses, therapists, and other health pros are as mortal as the rest of us, in crucial need of care even as they devote themselves to supporting others. To help meet this need, iRest Institute has developed a new course specifically for medical and mental health professionals to tend their own well-being.
An evidence-based program with potential to powerfully transform the human mind, iRest Meditation encourages brain plasticity in the areas of sensory, motor, limbic, and prefrontal cortical functioning. Its protocols, developed by Dr. Richard Miller, are in use worldwide by special populations including military and veterans, survivors of human trafficking, the homeless, incarcerated persons, those struggling with addiction, and others.
Participants can expect to gain lifelong skills to reduce stress, build resilience, and foster well-being in their own lives. As well, they will learn ways to potentially incorporate these teachings into their own practice to better help patients and clients. This Immersion is led by Dr. Richard Miller and he is accompanied by guest speaker Dr. John Patterson, a family medicine doctor based in Lexington, Kentucky, with more than two decades of experience. Learn more about Dr. Patterson’s approach here.
