The Sanctuary of Belonging: Co-Meditation as Co-Regulation

October 7—9, 2022

Hamburg, Germany

This short retreat* is an invitation to invent and experiment with dynamic forms of co-meditation as a portal into our shared home ground of simply being.

Individuation is an essential stage in the development of the human being. It appears to separate us from another. Yet all expressions that arise out of formlessness come from the same source. By seeing through our personal narrative we land in simply being, the sanctuary of belonging.

Co-meditation describes the process of deep self-inquiry with another person as “Sacred Mirror”, or witness. Together we will practice nurturing the relationship with the “other” that lives within ourselves or the world, or that we project onto another person. Being seen, heard, and welcomed just precisely as we are creates an environment of connection and inclusion.

Being attentive is like touch. Every time we touch we are being touched. We remember ourselves and each other in our innate wholeness: A perfection made from perceived imperfection!

The Sanctuary of Belonging: Co-Meditation as Co-Regulation invites participants into the ever-present stillness experienced through every layer of identification with body, mind, and emotion. The realization of freedom arrives not only despite but because we at times find ourselves temporarily lost or tangled up in an obscuration. This is the paradox of the non-dual teachings that we are learning to integrate into our daily lives.

The 10 steps of the iRest protocol are the foundation for this weekend. They offer each participant the tools to instill a sense of confidence, agency, peace, and an unshakeable trust into whatever is waiting to unfold.

“The invitation is to “sit“ without sitting- to remember yourself as spacious, wide open Welcoming during every experience of daily living.”

What to expect from this course:

Together we will explore the practical applications of iRest® Yoga Nidra and the non-dual teachings on and off the mat, including:

  • Sankalpa: Grounding orientation on Inner Resource - a felt sense of safety, security and well-being, and Deepest Heart’s Longing, our life’s meaning and purpose
  • BodySensing: gently exchanging visualizing and thinking for feeling and sensing
  • BreathSensing: calming and toning the nervous system
  • Co-Meditation in Dyads
  • Self- Inquiry exploration in gesture and movement with and without partners
  • Guided iRest®Yoga Nidra meditation
  • Dialogue and Integration

This short retreat is open to everyone; both experienced iRest practitioners and newcomers alike wishing to sample the fullness that the iRest Meditation practice has to offer for health, healing, and wellbeing.

*Full attendance of this event fulfills the short retreat requirement for the iRest® Certification Program.

Research shows that iRest® Meditation effectively reduces stress, insomnia, anxiety, depression, burn-out syndrome, chronic pain, and post-traumatic distress, so we may experience enhanced equanimity, joy, and wellbeing throughout daily life’s challenges. iRest® can be practiced individually or in groups, and is used successfully in conjunction with other therapeutic modalities.
