Jan Newell is the sister of a homeless Vietnam Veteran. Her brother was missing from the family for 37 years until she found him at a soup kitchen in this condition. Her quest for why has lead her to the fact that our Veterans have not been sufficiently assisted in war healing. Since discovering the great need to help Veterans with post traumatic stress disorder she has been on a path of advocacy, bringing community awareness to the plight of our beloved Veterans with PTSD.

Jan is a "Stand Down Girl" now. Stand Down is an annual event that happens across the country in various cities, to help homeless Veterans come up and out of homelessness.
She volunteers at Stand Down and has been on the Board of Directors in Nevada County for 3 years and now volunteers at Stand Down San Diego.

Jan has taught an iRest program to Veterans at the Sacramento Vet Center and is currently teaching iRest to Veterans at Veterans Village San Diego every week.
