About Dr. Kim Byrd-Rider

KIMBERLY BYRDRIDER, BSHS, MPT, DPT, is a board certified physical therapist and has worked as a PT for inpatient clinics, out-patient clinics, home health, ICU and skilled nursing facilities. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Health Science and a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy, both from the University of Oklahoma. She obtained her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Boston University.

Dr. Kim ByrdRider founded Americana Yoga which is based on the ideas of American Yoga Masters. An Americana Yoga class has 50 minutes of yoga poses (asana) + 25 minutes of a restorative pose with iRest + 10 minutes of restorative savanna. Thus combining the teachings of the American masters: Judith Hanson Lasater (Restorative), Doug Keller (safe movement), and Richard Miller (iRest). She teaches Americana Yoga to the military and others.
Dr. ByrdRider also teaches continuing education to health care professionals on how to use yoga to find solutions to painful diagnoses of orthopedic, cardio-pulmonary, and neurological origin. With over two decades of yoga and Pilates experience and more than 12,000 yoga classes taught, Dr. ByrdRider is certified in Swatantrya Yoga, Restorative Yoga-Relax & Renew, iRest and on all Pilates machines/mat. Dr. ByrdRider studied Ashtanga, Kripalu, Iyengar, Anusara, Baptiste, Ana Forrest, Bikram (Hot), and many other styles of yoga. Kim synthesizes physical therapy research with safe and innovative yoga.
