The iRest Institute (IRI), as an educational non-profit provides programs, teacher trainings, and retreats based on the ancient teachings of Yoga. Our programs:

  • Support psychological health, well-being and spiritual freedom,
  • Help participants rediscover how to live a contented life, free of conflict and fear,
  • Open the mind and body to its inherent ground of interconnected wholeness with all of life.

The IRI MISSION is to help people resolve their pain and suffering and to experience deep healing and peace.

Our VISION is to nurture an engaged community dedicated to health, well-being, and authentic participation in the world.

iRest®, one of the principal programs offered by IRI, is a research-based transformative practice of deep relaxation and meditative inquiry that is currently being utilised to support: veterans and active military, emergency services personnel, the homeless, students of all ages and a variety of community programs, Research has shown that iRest effectively reduces PTSD, depression, anxiety, insomnia, chronic pain and chemical dependency while increasing health, resiliency, and well-being.

IRI collaborates with research partners, and provides both foundational and advanced training for health care professionals, yoga and meditation teachers, and individuals looking to facilitate their own personal growth.

iRest training in Australasia was first offered in Melbourne in March 2013, as a result of the tireless efforts of IRI Australasia Director Fuyuko Toyota, and since then it has been offered in the Gold Coast, Sydney and Melbourne and from 2017 will also be offered in Auckland N.Z.

Australasia is at the vanguard in relation to the uptake of iRest, with the largest number of people having undertaken training outside of the North American continent. As the popularity of iRest grows, we aim to provide ongoing support to IRI students and teachers in Australasia through our interactive Facebook page and a schedule of regular events
