Dr. Bailey's commitment to healing has been a life-long journey. Her interest in Yoga Nidra began when teaching as a visiting professor in neuropharmacology in India in 1997. She has worked as a teacher of therapeutic yoga since 2001. As a scientist in drug development and in psychiatry since 1984, she has seen the healing power of both mediation and medication and believes in utilizing all available modalities to achieve the best outcomes. Her life serves as a bridge between Eastern and Western Healing Modalities. A as a neuropharmacologist and a Yogi, she embraces guiding people on the path of Holistic & Integrative Health for wellness. A heart felt, good belly laugh & enjoyment in life is a key goal of the practices she supports. Prior to her Director position at East West Integrative Healing this she has worked as a director in clinical development and medical affairs for drug development at a large pharmaceutical firm. She held a position as a Clinical Associate Professor at University of Illinois for 10 years teaching both at the College of Pharmacy and Medicine. The practice site for her clinical were was at Jesse Brown VA working with Veterans who had all types of psychiatric illness and PTSD. Her service included work as principle investigator/coordinator for the research clinic, dual diagnosis clinics, movement disorders clinic and treatment resistant schizophrenia or clozapine clinic. The development of a University wide psychopharmacology consult team is a legacy that survives today. Her Doctorate and BS in Pharmacy was from University of Illinois. She completed a residency and fellowship in psychopharmacology from University of Missouri-Kansas City and is board certified in psychiatric pharmacy(BCPP). Dr. Bailey’s commitment to health is a lived experience. A life long advocate in mental health as her passion, 2013 she completed a dream of paddle boarding across America to raise awareness of mental health for the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill or Nami. She joined the National Board of Directors for Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance in 2014 and is active in the pursuit mental wellness for those who are diagnosed, suffer from, recover from and thrive with a diagnosis of a mental condition. She has been on Capitol Hill as an advocate leader in 2014, 2015 & 2016. Dr. Bailey maintains an advanced certification in Yoga and conducts seminars and training in the practices yoga, chanting & meditation. A Level II Yoga Nidra teacher in training currently working on her I-rest Certification & a student of Mindfullness at the Oasis Institute at Massachusetts General Hospital. She has assisted Gary Kraftsow of the American Viniyoga Institute and presented regionally, nationally and internationally for both clinicians and people with lived experience of mental illness on the effects of Yoga & Meditation for Mental Wellness. She teaches mindfulness meditation techniques, yoga nidra (I-rest) & the transformational practice of movement and chanting. Her moto is Live Bold-Enjoy Life-Be of Love. Her guiding principles are to be of service to reduce suffering. You may see her teaching psychiatrists about receptor affinity constants, the effects of meditation on brain morphology, mindfulness meditation, pranic healing, a yoga or chanting workshop or other aspects of healing the brain and changing the energy for healing. During quiet moments, you may see her walking in the woods on her farm, playing music, hanging with friends, or paddle-boarding on Lake Michigan. Her home is both in Chicago and SW Michigan. She enjoys leading retreats all over the world to embody the teachings of healing. Her retreats allow the movement from I to We or Illness to Wellness. They embody the motto of Living Bold-Enjoying Live-Being of Love. You may even find yourself on a paddleboard when you least expect it.
