Barbara Hofeldt

Certified iRest Teacher
Boise, ID

Since becoming an Occupational Therapist in 1978, Barbara has incorporated her life long pursuit of alternative aspects of healing in to her more traditional health care training. She became a certified Massage Therapist in the early 1980's and had a private practice as an OT/MT in the 90's for 10 years utilizing massage, somato-emotional release and cranio-sacral work.

In the fall of 2006, Barbara moved to Boise, Idaho and returned to a more traditional practice of OT, joining the rehabilitation staff at the Elk's Rehabilitation Hospital. After the iRest program was started through the Occupational Therapy Department there, Barbara readily accepted the offer to train to be able to offer iRest. This involved teaching groups and individually, addressing the varied symptoms of the diversified diagnosis of the in and out patients. These symptoms include but are not limited to: sleep disturbance, chronic pain, PTSD, anxiety and depression.

Gaining an even broader perspective of the benefits of alternative healing techniques, Barbara pursued further training through the Integrative Restoration Institute and now has completed the iRest Teacher training. Barbara worked for the Elks Rehabilitation Hospital in Boise, Idaho teaching iRest from 2009 through 2016.
After taking a year and a half off for rest, relaxation and fun, Barbara rejoined the work force, this time through STARS under St. Alphonsus Hospital. She is offering iRest and other types of meditation as part of the St. Al's Sleep Enhancement Program.
An appointment with Barbara may be established through the Sleep Program by first making an appointment with one of the physicians within that program.
