Wai Ying Tham
Certified iRest Yoga Nidra teacher
I am passionate somatic educator and meditation teacher. I l love sharing the joy and wonder of body mind practices that has brought to her life for more than 25 years. Originally trained as an industrial scientist and well on the path to completing a PhD, I took a side step and instead began working in ethical investment. A diagnosis of breast cancer derailed some of my plans, but led me into the wonderful world of yoga nidra as a healing practice. This one constant helped me to navigate rounds of treatment, heal more kindly, be more in tune with her body, and make a conscious choice to follow my passion for science, anatomy and wellbeing, once given a clean bill of health. I am an advocate of the healing powers of the meditative aspect of yoga, I am keen to introduce iRest Yoga Nidra and restorative yoga to Melbourne, after studying with US founders and health leaders, Richard Miller and Judith Hanson-Lasater. More recently, being mentored by Fuyuko Toyota. I explore life as it unfolds with a sense of curiosity and awe. It’s an attitude that underpins my teaching and commitment to professional development. Away from my mat, I love spending time with my family, learning, travelling and exploring anything food-related.I feel I was born a foodie!
